About Ned
In addition to my university bachelor and masters degrees, I have formal training in the arts, including photography.
As a professional photographer, I specialize in travel photography. Today with so much "eco-travel," travel to see the natural world, travel photography necessarily includes wildlife photography, which has been a passion of mine for decades. I also work in the areas of corporate, architectural, documentation, and press photography, along with limited event photography. My event photography work is primarily for non-profit organizations.
In addition to my photography itself, I run a number of photography workshops annually dealing with photography in general, as well as travel and wildlife photography specifically. As a volunteer at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, I regularly lead "Wildlife Photo Walks" in the Refuge itself during which we talk both photography and wildlife. On these walks I often choose specific wildlife photography issues and techniques to discuss with the walk participants to further their abilities in wildlife photography.
In addition to being a photographer, I'm a chemical, and public health engineer (Carnegie Institute of Technology, BS) and a business person (Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, MBA). Currently I'm president of NSL Associates, a Tech Consulting Firm.
I write a column about general travel topics, as well as supply travel photography, and news images for Consumer Traveler the oldest continuously published travel news and commentary website on the Internet. You can also find me at the Nikonians Forums in many of its topic areas, especially New to Photography, Master Your Tools, and of course, Travel Photography. I'm a forum moderator at Nikonians.
