If you’re in the Seattle area in May, you might want to drop in on the new photography exhibition at the Photographic Center Northwest, Andy Freeberg, Guardians & Sentry: Sitting in the Art World.
The exhibition will run from May 1 - May 29, 2009Andy Freeberg photographs women Guardians in the art museums of Russia, as they sit and guard the collections. When looking at the paintings and sculptures, the presence of the women becomes an inherent part of viewing the artwork itself. In a second series, Sentry, Freeberg photographs the Chelsea Galleries white bunkerlike front desks that display the top of the heads of the desk sitters - often the only other human presence. In a deadpan approach, he targets the uniformity, anonymity, and their chilling effect.
I’m not going to be able to see this exhibition myself, but it sounds very interesting, and if I was in Seattle, I would definitely see it.As I travel, I love seeing the work of other photographers as I hope you do. If you know of a new photographic exhibition which you think the Blog should publicize, please contact me.

I'll check it out next week when I'm traveling to Seattle. Thanks Ned.
