Photography Exhibition: The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston - Modernist Photography 1910–1950

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, periodically has terrific photographic exhibitions. Their current my photography exhibit, Modernist Photography 1910–1950 features approximately 40 American modernist photographs representing highlights from the Museum's own collections.

If you're in the Boston area, this exhibition is well worth visiting.

This exhibition will run through July 3, 2011.

“This exhibition focuses on the concept of the camera as modernist tool in the hands of American photographers during the 1910s through the 1940s. Comprising four sections —American vernacular modernism, portraits and nudes, still life and close-up, and still life and abstraction — each section reflects significant innovations in 20th-century American photography and major strengths of the Museum's holdings. The exhibition presents prints by well-known artists, including Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, Paul Strand, and Walker Evans, as well as major figures in The Lane Collection—Charles Sheeler, Edward Weston, and Ansel Adams—along with work by highly inventive, but less well-known names, such as Paul Outerbridge, Wright Morris,  Arthur Siegel, and Dorothy Norman.”
